Question : WiFi will not connect when not logged into the domain

Hi,

I have a problem with a laptop user, when she logs onto the domain (with her laptop on the dock and wired to the network) she can then remove the laptop from the dock and connect to wireless networks with no problem.  She can search usiogn windows zero config and find which ever ones she wants and connects.

If she logs onto the computer off the domain (so not connected to anything - standalone) she cannot connect any wireless networks.  She turns on her wifi and opens the windows wifi zero config window to search for networks but none appear, actualyl none!  I have looked at the drivers etc and all the power settings etc but cannot see how this can be happening?

To my knowledge their is nothing in the Group policy that would stop her from access wifi networks etc.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Its a HP 2510p, windows xp pro, if any further info need please ask!

Help would be greatly apptreciated!

Answer : WiFi will not connect when not logged into the domain

Usually if there's a third party wireless utility, Windows will let you know.  For a temporary fix, disable and re-enable the wireless card and see if it comes up with anything...it may also be a driver related issue.   If installed, uninstall third party software and disable the firewall to isolate.
