Question : Duplicate name exists on the network
|
|
I have two networks in two locations. One network is a Workgroup and the other is a Domain. I have setup the user names on the workstations exactly the same as the ones on the Domain so I can access local devices within the Workgroup from the domain. All the Computer names within the Workgroup and the Domain are all different, however I am getting the error "Duplicate name exists on the network".
This is driving me crazy!! can anyone help??
I managed to get brief access to one of the PC's on the workgroup by following the below instructions from other posts, but it was very short lived, .....the error re-appeared.
SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1 START DEVMGMT.MSC
After showing hidden devices, the "RAS Async Adapter" appeared transparent, Device Manager says the "RAS Async Adapter" isnt working correctly! I tried to remove it from the system, but the error message said that it was required to boot.
I then did the following:
CMD /K IPCONFIG /Release IPCONFIG /Renew nbtstat -n ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns
All of this doesnt work!!!
