Question : networked drive displays contents, but shows as disonnected network drive in Explorer
|

I have a Dell box running Server 2003 sp1; it serves as our terminal server with mapped drives to shares on our DC. our current drive map script deletes the drive mappings and then maps the drive using net use /delete /yes and net use : \\server\share
The server is currently configured with a mirrored C drive and a RAID5 data drive (e); the CD drive is D, but I disabled it to see if it'd make a difference here (it didn't)
What is happening is that after logging in, the F drive (mapped to a share on our DC) is showing as disconnected. Other shares which show as disconnected "refresh" and show as network drive upon clicking on them, but when one clicks on F, it only displays the data stored on the F drive, but it doesn't "refresh" its awareness that the drive is connected.
net use won't let me delete the F drive, it claims it can't find the connection, but a command line directory of F: lists the contents.
I've seen this behavior when I plug and unplug a USB flash disk on a desktop, and I suspect that some piece of hardware is claiming the F letter but not actually using it. Any ideas on how I can determine if a controller card or other piece of hardware is claiming the F drive allocation? Or is it something else that bears illumination.
Thanks in advance!
