Question : SNMP agent on windows reporting to Cacti
|
|
I installed SNMP on windows by following the instructions here http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/opmanager/help/user_guide/snmp_installation/install_snmp_win.html#ins_snmp_xp_2k
I also configured the SNMP agent by following the link below http://manageengine.adventnet.com/products/opmanager/help/user_guide/snmp_installation/conf_snmp_agents.html#snmp_conf_xp_2k
Now, i want to see if my PC is generating SNMP events. How can i check for this? I also want to see what snmp messages my pc is generating, so if you can tell me how to access those, that will be great.
I am trying to send the snmp messages to CACTI server, but cacti server is not showing any data from my pc, so i want to find whether the problem is with Cacti or my PC.
Thanks,

Examine windows event logs (or messages- if u r running linux) of both machines it should show the initiator sending and receiver receiving snmp messages. Another thing what u can do is run a sniffer (like ethereal) on those machines. It will capture packets, try to see if snmp packets are there. Do the basic troubleshooting restart snmpd service etc. Troubleshoot on windows firewall (or ipchains/iptables) or any other firewall u are running. They may be blocking snmp traffic
If still unresolved, send the configuration
Thanks
