Question : A/B Ethernet switch?
|
|
Experts -
We have a location in our office that is private at some times and semi-public at other times. We need the ability to switch the ethernet jacks in that room to be connected to our corporate LAN when the room is private and to a separate sub-net (connected directly to an internet firewall) when the room is semi-public. Currently we just manually move the ethernet cable from the switch that serves that room from one router to another.
Whet we are looking for is the equivalent of an A/B monitor switch for ethernet. Is there such a thing? Or is there some slick way we can do it with router settings or something? A physical switch would be fine, but one that could be switched remotely would be ideal.
I've done a Google search for it, but "ethernet switch" of course gives a billion results for the common meaning of "switch" instead of the meaning I am looking for.
TIA,
Don

Try searching for rj45 ab switch.
You could also do it with VLAN's if your network is arranged this way, i.e. logon to the switch and change the VLAN assigned to the port. If you have a router it might be more difficult...
