Question : Norstar Modular ICS and Microsoft CRM

My company is running an old Norstar-PLUS Modular ICS phone system.

We are looking at running Microsoft CRM.  The Microsoft CRM was sold to us as being able to integrate with various VoIP systems.  They told us to check with our phone vendor on this since we are not running VoIP yet.

My question is, for any Norstar experts out there, can we integrate the Norstar-PLUS Modular ICS system with Microsoft CRM or any other CRM?  And if so, what additional components will we need to add to enable this?

Thanks,
John

Answer : Norstar Modular ICS and Microsoft CRM

Here's a pdf that covers the units required to interface with the Nortel system,  CTA 100 or CTA 160i

http://www.telecomuserguides.com/manuals/filesupload/pdf/norstar_pdf/Computer%20Telephony%20Adapters.pdf

Nortel still lists them on their website and there are hits in online stores so they must still be making them.

This stuff is pretty old,  WinNT and Win2000 days,  so I do not know if these will work with newer OS's or not.

If you have a working TAPI driver these modules likely will work with any CRM that supports TAPI directly or with a TAPI add on module.

TAPI interface for MS CRM,

Another TAPI capable CRM (I think they also work with Micrsoft CRM),

Those are just a couple of links I dug up quick,  I have not worked with MS CRM myself.

I had to deal with getting information from a Nortel ICS system a number of years ago.  We ended up tapping the phone lines ahead of the phone system to get call information.  It was a custom application and there were other issues with Nortel providing a SDK which made working within Nortel's system too expensive.  Probably still have the CTA 100 in a box collecting dust.
