Question : Configuring two NIC's

Hello,

Greetings from Portugal.

I have two NIC cards on my computer (XP Home). In the first NIC I have a router (Thomson TG787) connected and in the second NIC i have a Multifunctional Nashuatec MP C2500 All-in-one(print, copy, scan and fax) with the folowing configuration: IP=192.168.51.80 Subnet mask=255.255.255.0 Default gateway=192.168.51.88. The problem is that i keep losing my internet connection and i found that disabling the second NIC connection solves the problem, so i figured out that must be a conflict between the two NIC's. By the way, i don't know if this matters, but the Internet connection properties (NIC 1) are: Adress type=Assigneg by DHCP IP=192.168.1.65 Subnet mask=255.255.255.0 Default gateway=192.168.1.254.

Can someone, please, tell me how to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

Answer : Configuring two NIC's

There shouldn't be a conflict between the two NIC's like that. Also both IP address are from different range 192.168.51.x and 192.168.1.x so there shouldn't be a conflict either here.

The problem can be is that the metric value of one gateway is lower and that of the other is higher, so your internet traffic might be trying to go to the lower metric value gateway which is not used for net surfing  and this is bcoz ur losing internet connection.

can be something like this.
