Question : wireless connection drops constantly when using WEP encryption
|
|
on windows XP, the wireless connection drops constantly, and sometimes doesn't even reconnect or connect at all to the specfied SSID.
the SSID has WEP encryption enabled.
when it's connected to it it usually stays connected for like 5 minutes, then it drops it..
now, it even won't connect to the SSID at all.
the signal is "perfect" so that's not the problem.
when set the security in the wireless router to 'open' the win XP laptop DOES connect to it and does not drop the connection at all. so its only when iuse WEP encryption..
to the same wireless network, are 3 other PCs connected (when using WEP) without a problem... so the problem lays with only 'that laptop' running win XP SP2.
Right now i have the wireless network "open" so it works for that win xp laptop, but I want it set back to WEP asap ofcourse..
any clues?
PS: ive already installed new drivers for the wireless network interface on the laptop (it's a Lenovo 3000 c100)

If you have two wireless utilities installed and running, such as WZC and a utility that came with the wireless adapter, they can conflict with one another. Make sure only one is running
