Question : Bandwidth stealing or not - network connection sending/receiving unknown data
|
|
Good Day,
My computer (Windows xp pro) is in a peer to peer network (all others are windows xp workstation). Lastmonth, we paid roughly AED 7000 extra in bandwidth charges. Hence, I purchase PRTG and am using it to monitor bandwidth usage through SNMP.
So far everything looks good with one exception. My computer seems to be sending/receiving excess data. I have closed all shares but it still happens.
I have scanned for viruses with nothing wrong. I am very upset because I am the sole IT admin here and I should be setting an example - I should have the best managed computer. however, this isnot the case.
How can I find out where/who is connected to my machine (their ip). I suspect someone is stealing bandwidth because I changed my ip twice but the problem exists.
Furthermore, we have a cisco pix 515e firewall between all pc's and the WAN link.
any help is muhc much appreciated.
Thanks. CD
