Question : Can anyone help me with QOS and this router.  Skype and other VoIP are not working with my connection

When trying to use Skype and other VoIP software, my conversations getting broken up with the voices going silent intermittingly during the call.
think I am experiencing a QOS problem with my router.
Basically, I think this means that my router needs to give preference to voice traffic otherwise the quality will be degraded whenever I do something else e.g. browse the web or download files.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem?

Answer : Can anyone help me with QOS and this router.  Skype and other VoIP are not working with my connection

Yes the D-link wont support QOS.
Even a QOS router will only effect the upstream bandwidth which will affect the audio breaking up for the person you are talking to. If it is the audio that you are hearing that is breaking up then there is little you can do as you need QOS implemented at the ISP end of the internet link and unless you buy an internet connection designed for voip they wont have the facility to do that for you.

Most companies get around this problem by getting a 2nd internet connection just for Voip. Since the voip connection will always go to the same set of voip servers you can just set a manual route on the machines to send that traffic over the 2nd internet connection. You wont need any QOS compatible routers in this case. Of course this cannot be done with Skype.
