Question : Game Server problems
|
|
I have the D-link 614+ Router. I have 2 computers. 1 is used as a server for games. and another i use as my regular pc. However, when i host a game online i have to open the dmz to 192.168.0.103 which is what the game runner told me to do, now when i do this it opens my router for the game to be online(which it does), the problem is when i go to look at the other game servers online they just dont show up anymore.. i'd like to know what is goin on here. thanks

You should verify that the IP address for the PC is matching the one that you are assigning to the DMZ. However, DMZing is not going to be the best solution.
The router in question will not DMZ more than one computer at once, but it DOES support port mapping. What you might want to do, first of all, is perform the firmware upgrade for that router.
I have the same router at home, and the firmware upgrade does wonders.,
Secondly, you might want to check the games support site as they will usually have a proxy configuration page, which will specifiy the ports which must be allowed to play the game.
If you allow these ports and map them to the ips of the individual computers on the network, that should clear up your problem.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
