Question : using a cisco handset on my lan switch
hi all,
basically my issue is as follows.
i am trying to make a cisco ip phone work across my LAN so that eventually it can be moved to a remote location.
my lan is setup as follows:
range: 192.168.2
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.2.168
dns:192.168.2.250
the cisco phone system runs on a 10.1.1 range and has a lan identity of 192.168.2.45
the setup on the phones looks like this:
ip address: 10.1.1.
subnet: 255.255.255.0
default router: 10.1.1.1
dhcp: 10.1.1.1
t
ftp
: 10.1.1.1
my issue is that when a handset is plugged into my lan all i get on the screen is "configuring ip" when i used dhcp and when i use a static config i get "registering"
what do i need to do in order for the phone to find the 10.1.1. addresses/dhcp server?
any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Arran
Answer : using a cisco handset on my lan switch
sorted! the cisco switch had to have an open gateway enabled for our lan.
