Question : Lotus Notes 8.5 Basic Client

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade from 6.5.6 to 8.5 (or hopefully 8.5.1). I was wondering in the basic client will run Lotus Notes Applications. I think the standard client will require our PC's memory to be upgraded. I would like to possibly get away with the basic client if possible. What are your thoughts on this and the possible pros/cons.

Thanks,

Harold

Answer : Lotus Notes 8.5 Basic Client

Basic is the C-based client, Standard is Java-based, and Standard comes with Eclipse-widgets etc. In principle, Basic will do everything the R7 client did, so it'll run applications etc. In any case: just test it, set up one PC with the Basic client and check its behaviour.
