Question : Restore failing on a NW 5.1 SP5 server using Brightstor Arcserve v. 9

Hi,
When I try to do a restore, the operation fails with the following error messages: - E3123 Failed to login to TSA on server FS-QUE2-008, fffdffd7 - E3124 Failed to logout to TSA on server FS-QUE2-008, fffeffff - E3122 Failed to relase TSA on server FS-que2-008, fffeffff - E3179 No SMS Connection
I checked the backup logs and everything seems OK there: no error reported whatsoever...
Our server is running NW 5.1 SP 5. The backup software is Brightstor ArcServe v. 9. TSA modules loaded are TSA500.NLM (version 5.05b), and TSANDS.NLM (version 10511.02e). The loaded SMS module is SMDR.NLM (version 6.10a).
Does anyone has any idea?

Well, there's Novell TID http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10067012.htm, but that seems to be NetWare v4.11 in non-English languages.

Here, it mentions that SMS Error code fffdffd7 means login was denied. It also points out that when logging into NDS to perform a backup, ArcServe uses the credentials that were provided when the job was first submitted.
Seeing that you're doing a restore after obtaining an obstensibly "clean" backup, my guess is that you're using an account that does not have sufficient permissions for what you want to do, or you've got the wrong password or username.
