Question : How to Network 2 computers with LAN Crossover cable?
Ok, I hope this is pretty easy. I have a laptop and a desktop (both Running XP) connected via a CrossOver LAN cable. On my desktop I have my C: drive shared with the firewall turned off. If I go to my laptop's My Network Places I can see my C: drive but when I try to click on it it just says "\\Dan\c is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found." Can anybody help me and suggest some things I might try? I have absolutely no experience with networks and this is my first attempt at it. Thanks for all your help in advance!

Don't run a X-cable, it doesn't work with all systems and NICs. Get a hub for $30 or so, and share drives on both systems with read/write access, and you'll never have a problem with XP networking.
