Question : Windows 2003 Terminal Server - SBS2003 DC

Hi, I have an issues that I need help on. I have an SBS2003 server and a Windows 2003 server running terminal services. The TS server works ok when logging in as the administrator but when logging in as a client i get "to log on to this remote computer, you must be granted blah blah blah". Ive tried to add the users locally but all i can see on the location tab is domain\backup-svr - and I am unable to change this to anything else. Ive tried to run the \\server\connectcomputers wizard and this fails. Any suggestions?

Cheers Simon

Answer : Windows 2003 Terminal Server - SBS2003 DC

It sounds like the terminal server is not a domain member - either it's never been joined, or something went wrong during the process.  Check My Computer > Properties under the Computer Name tab to see if it is a member.  If not, you can join it from there.  When you're joining a server to an SBS domain, it's not as important to use the ConnectComputer wizard as when you're joining a client.  Make sure the terminal server is only using the SBS server for DNS before trying to join the domain, though.

If it already appears to be a domain member, you may need to remove it from the domain (by switching it back to a workgroup) and rejoin it.
