Question : connect pc/pc via internet remotely and securely

I have a customer who wants to be able to have his secretary at the company office access files on his home office pc and vice versa. What is the easiest and most secure way to accomplish this?

Also another good thing about this is it uses 256 bit encryption when you are doing remote desktop. So it is also very secure. You also don't have to open up any ports on your firewall/router if you have one.
