Question : MPLS help

I need help with the pros and cons of an MPLS circuit. We currently have two locations; our main site and one remote office. Both locations currently have their own T1 and are communicating via a VPN. A third location is in the works and will need to be connected as well as well as the possibility of other sites to follow. The addition of a third site will require us to up our bandwidth at our main site. I am not familiar with MPLS other than its a WAN connection. Is this something we should be considering going to? I understand that an MPLS circuit would not supply internet and that would most likely be configured to be accessed thru our main site's internet. Is an MPLS circuit more reliable or easier to maintain than a VPN?
