Question : Security Webcam help needed...
|
|
Hi there,
I am looking for a solution to install 2 or 3 Webcams around my new first house to act as a security cameras. I would like the ability to view the live feed over the internet and also record the feed onto a server at home for later viewing.
I have a small network already implemented via wireless and Ethernet cable at home and a 2mb broadband connection but am a complete newbie to setting up this kind of solution.
I have no idea what products to look at or what software is needed and add to that what is high end and low end equipment. I would also love the recording to be started automatically should it sense movement e.g. someone walking up the path to the side of the house, but also have the ability for me to browse the feed whilst in the office at work to see whats going on at home :)
I would like the camera to have a zoom function as well, but it doesnt have to be amazing as my area to monitor isnt that big.
Any help you can give I would be grateful.
Many thanks,
Dale

dlink has a selection of ip based cameras.. indoor/outdoor, wired/wireless.. http://www.dlink.com/products/category.asp?cid=58&sec=1
features include: web based monitoring, camera management, recording, email alerts, some cameras even have pan/tilt and motion sensors.
i've also seen some pretty cheap ones at the local walmart store too. dunno what their capabiities are though.
