Question : Can I use Plantronics CS60-USB Wireless headset with my laptop without having a landbased phone line?

I have no landbased phone, I only want to use Plantronics CS60-USB Wireless headset with my laptop.
Is that possible, or must I have a landbased phone line?
 
Furthermore, I want to use it for videoconferencing, using the softwares Skype, Marratech, Adobe Connect, etc.
Is that possible to use it only for chatting via internet, without any landbased phone line? Can I use Plantronics CS60
with any video conferencing software, other than Skype, Marratech and Adobe Connect?
 
My laptop is a HP Compaq nx7300, Windows XP Pro, 32-bit, and a netbook ASUS Eee PC 1000HE.

Another alternative to Plantronics CS60 is Plantronics Discovery 925.

According to http://www.plantronics.com/media/media_resources/literature/user_guides/CS50_60_USB_UserGuide_EN.pdf it may be used without AC adapter. So you can use it at the airport.
