Question : Peer-to-Peer: Win2K and Win98 machines

Have 2-machines(mchA, mchB, both have Win98 and had Peer-to-Peer connectivity. Recently, replaced one of the machines(mchA) with a new machine(P3-1G, 512RAM, Win2K, 10/100-LAN).

Couple of problems:

1. In Win2K machine: NetworkNeighborhood/ComputersNearMe/
It takes 2-minutes to list both computers, and another 2-minutes when Win98-machine OR Win2K-machine(itself) is double-clicked. Any idea what could be wrong here?

2. The replaced Win98-machine had a pswd. The new Win2K doesnt. Now the problem is that I CANT access new Win2K-machine thru mchB. It asks me for a pswd......
I can see both the computers in mchB's NetworkNeighborhood but when double-clicked it asks me for a pswd........ Need help to restore connectivity....

One more thing.... The new Win2K-machine was used at home(having cable-internet)

Answer : Peer-to-Peer: Win2K and Win98 machines

To access the resources on the w2k box, you have to use "client for M$ networks" as the primary logon on the 9x box. this creates the access token that the w2k box needs to allow access to it's resources. then add the account to the w2k box (the same username and password) that you use on the 9x box, or enable the guest account on the w2k box. Give appropriate permissions to the shares
