Question : Linksys router - static mac to IP address - howto
|
|
In my old router I was able to map the static MAC address of the machine to a specific IP address and then it would forward to the correct computer every time and I did not have to use a static IP on the server.
I now have a Linksys befsr41 router and I do not see the feature that was on my old nat router.
How do I get this router to static mac to IP address ?

Unfortunately, you can't. The BEFSR41 doesn't do DHCP reservations.
Your only alternative is to set up a machine as a DHCP server, either Linux or Windows based... but that's another question...
