Question : Linksys WAP & WinXP, Broadcast and WPA TKIP
I have a Linksys WAP that is setup so my laptop can connect to my main box and share internet and I would like to share files but... I was told not to broadcast my signal and I was told to use security. If I dont broadcast my SSID, my laptop (with WinXP) cant see my WAP. If I enable WEP or WPA, my laptop cant get to my WAP either. How do I disable broadcast and enable the WPA TKIP security?

You can hack a WEP encrypted access point in about 7 minutes. It's just a private key 13 or 26 characters in length. It's only good for protecting you from the run-o-the-mill wardriver. WPA is much more secure and almost unhackable (I haven't figured out how to do it). Set up WPA on your access point and then download the WPA support patch for microsoft XP: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=009d8425-ce2b-47a4-abec-274845dc9e91&displaylang=en
That's probably why you can't get to your WAP. Once you've got the patch installed, you should see an option to authenticate using WPA-PSK and use the TKIP encryption. Let me know if this works.
