Question : Router not recognizing internet connection from cable modem.

|
I am using Road Runner(RR) cable for my internet. My RCA modem supplied my RR and connected to my Netgear wireless router WGR614 died last night. So I went to get a replacement today and they gave me their new modem they are using now, Toshia PCX1100U. I hook everything up and all the right lights are on saying everything is a go. However even though the 'PC link' light is on my router will not recognize the ethernet link up. If I plug the ethernet right into my PC NIC it works just fine. So my problem is I can't get the modem and router to work together. The modem does see the PC and wireless through the router but not the internet connection. This is what I have done so far:
1) Called RR tech support. They see the modem so the link is fine. They even reset it just to make sure. 2) Unplugged modem, router and shut down pc. Then booted everthing back in that order. No joy on that solution. 3) Uninstalled all adapters then rebooted to resintall. No joy on that solution. 4) Went into router config and manually typed in MAC address of modem. This did not work. 5) Tried to repair adapter connection 1 and 2 was given the message TCP/IP not configured. So I went into settings for each adapter and unchecked the TCP/IP box and closed out, rebooted then checked the box to reintall. Again no joy on this solution. The direct connection to the PC adapters works fine though. 6) Tried ip renew through router config settings and this would not let due to the fact is says 'No internet connection detected'.
Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is. I mean I should jsut be able to plug everything back up like it use to be and it should work fine but no joy on that solution. I am truly stumped.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, heatmiser101

>Went into router config and manually typed in MAC address of modem If you need to spoof a mac address on the router, it's the PC's MAC address you need to enter, not the modem.
Your modem requires a straight-through cable to the PC or the WAN port or your router.
go to the modem's web configuration page and double check these settigns
Host Name = Put in the name of your computer provided to you by ISP (This may be called a computer name or host name by your ISP).
Domain Name = Leave blank, the router will get this on its own. ISP Parameters for Internet Access Encapsulation = Ethernet
Service Type = Standard User Name = n/a Password = n/a WAN IP Address Assignment, DNS Server and WAN MAC Address Wan IP Address Assignment = Get Automatically From ISP (Default)
DNS Server Address Assignment = Get Automatically From ISP (Default)
Wan Mac Address = Spoof This PCs Mac Address IP Address 192.168.0.2 This IP Address should point to the IP address of the computer that was originally connected to the modem.
Reboot the cable modem after the configuration data is entered
