Question : reverse DNS

Hi everybody,

I received an email as reply when i tried to send an email,

the reply is:

: host mx1.hrnsdoc.net[116.10.242.24] refused to talk to me:
553 Your message was rejected because it was sent from a mailserver without
a valid PTR (reverse DNS) record. Please contact your ISP.

what would you recommend me to do?

regards,

Answer : reverse DNS

As far as I am concerned, every IP address should have a reverse DNS entry. When I do a site with many external IP addresses, I will usually ask the ISP to set every address with a reverse DNS, often office1.domain.com for the first address, office2.domain.com for the second address etc.

Then ask the ISP to adjust individual addresses as required.

The IP address that you are using for sending email needs to have at least a forward and reverse DNS, which needs to match. The ehlo address should also match the forward DNS.

Simon.
