Pls explane to me whats the different between Lan and Wan and pls give me the example of Lan and Wan system or connection or something else.

Answer : Whats the different between Lan and Wan ?

LAN = Local Area Network
WAN = Wide Area Network

Generally the only important difference is that WAN traffic is "wrapped" and then sent across a 3rd party network, such as the internet.

In a company with three sites in different cities for example, the traffic in each site travels around the LAN at that site.  If traffic from one of the sites needs to go to another site though, the normal method is to setup a VPN between the sites.  This makes all the computers at all the sites "appear" to be on the LAN so resources can still be shared.

In that scenario, the method used to connect the different sites is called the WAN.  The WAN could be a simple as each site having an internet connection of its own and having the VPN connect over the internet, up to having the sites interconnected via point to point circuits such as frame-relay or DS (T1) circuits.

Logically speaking, if everything is configured properly, there isn't a difference between the two except that devices connected to over the WAN will be slower to access than devices on the LAN.
