Question : Website temporary hosting for testing

I have a website being developed and the customer wants to see how things are coming along.  I cannot publish it yet, because it is not done. And we want to leave the intact old site until the new one is completed.   What would be the best way for the customer to see the site, in a public area on the net without effecting what is out there now?

You can use the same place where your current site is.
Create a subfolder under the current website.Something like

www.oldsite.com/newsite and deploy all stuff there.
for database,create a test database in your db space.Does it make sense?
