Question : Wireless Router VS Wireless access point router

I have a network sharing files, printers, and cable internet. it is only a two computer wireless network no cables, hubs, switches or routers. i want to add a third computer! the people at best buy said i needed a wireless access point router! IS that true? can i just get a wireless router? what is the difference between the 2? can i connect the third pc wired?

what adapter are you using?
some adapters you need to use the config utility software, and some you can configure fromthe properties page of it
right click on network neighborhood, choose properties, highlight the adapter, click properties, click advanced, and check the drop down box(es)
