Question : Wireless Networking w/ Satellite internet service

We have a weekend cabin in a neighborhood that is in a very remote location.  The location does not have access to DSL, or cable. The only option is dial up.  Three of my neighbors have asked me to set up satellite internet service and connect then through a wireless network.  Most of us already have networks in our houses and want to add the wireless internet to our existing network.   All 3 homes are with in 200 feet of each other and we have clear line of sight from root top to roof top. Back ground RF noise should be minimal.
The satellite internet modem has an Ethernet output that connects directly to a router.  What I think I want to do is be able to connect all 4 networks together via an 802.11 connection.  What I would like you to do for me is to determine the correct network topology to accomplish this objective and recommend all hardware and software I might need. Keep in mind that each of the 4 networks is in a separate buildings and the antenna for the wireless modem will be outside on a roof top.  This is a home project, so low cost equipment is also important.

Answer : Wireless Networking w/ Satellite internet service

1.  WDS is wireless distribution system.  It allows AP's to communicate with each other.  I will let wiki explain it a litlle more (save some typing) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Distribution_System
I have found that linksys makes a great tool to flash the bios with (download it here-> ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/befsx41_Tftp.exe Run this tool after you have downloaded the talasmin.  Enter 192.168.11.1 for ip.  enter root for password.  And put location of flash file.  This is real important, start a continous ping on the buffalo ( ping 192.168.11.1 -t ).  Your replies will be 64ms.  press the init button on bottom of buffalo for 10 seconds and keep an eye on ping.  They will start to fail and then you will get 3 replies at 100ms.  This is the only time the buffalo is looking for tftp.  At the first reply of 100ms press enter on the linksys tool and it will flash.
3. No, but to help the people that designed it, I would gladly pay the 20 dollars(plus the talisman is specific to your mac.
4.yes
5. Client bridge is using 2 aps to connect 2 lans.  Usually a client bridge will only allow the given ap to communicate with it.  After you flash the buffalo, one of your choices under wireless is AP or client bridge.  Set the main up as AP so it will accept multiple ap's.  Each client ap will need to be set as client bridge to set a link between the main AP and the client.  This is all done in the router.
6. I do all my shopping at newegg so I will give you a link to a quality omni that will do it for you outdoor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833998031

7. http://www.cantenna.com/
8. It will just relpace the existing antannae with a pringles can, just unscrew one and screw the other in and point the cantannae to the main ap
9. yes on the AP, you will need to put the wireless mac address of each client in the wds table of the main buffalo and you will need to put the mains mac address in each of the client-bridge ap's/  This will allow wds communications.  On the wireless status page you will be shown individual bridges, their mac address and signal and noise of each connection will be shown in real time.  Its almost like pointing a satalitte.  Just aim until you get best signal.
10. Yes, I will put you togethter a diagram and I truly understand that this will be a major deal, especially if this is your first time.  My email address is listed in my profile.
Thanks
Jason
