Question : DNS Forwaders and Root Hints ~~ Easy question

When you setup DNS on a 2000 server that has an active internet connection.  It automatically configures Root Hints with the 13 root servers.  This allows the server to resolve FQDNs of internet hosts.  What benefit is there to additionally configuring your own ISPs DNS servers as forwarders on this server?

Answer : DNS Forwaders and Root Hints ~~ Easy question

This is beneficial if you wish you're internal clients to use you're DNS server as primary server for their DNS requests and resolve interanlly if possible. You're server would in turn got to you're ISPs DNS servers if it can't resolve internally.

Therefore if a client pc would do an nslookup on an internet address it would return you're DNS servername and address and then provide the resolution from the Non-Authoritative server(ISP)
