Question : Stuck at acquiring network address.
I have a machine here which will not obtain an IP address. I've cleaned out all infections, and have narrowed it down to services and possibly group policies.
- DHCP Client won't start. (It tells me it has started, but stopped right away.)
- I cannot start the windows firewall/ICS service. Error 1747
- Unable to run 'msconfig' (An access denied error was returned..)
Anyone know why this may be?
Thanks,
Dean
Answer : Stuck at acquiring network address.
Without the DHCP client service, it won't get an IP via DHCP. I would be suspect that some files were not corrupted by the infections.
You can try running:
sfc /scanonce
Then reboot. This runs the system file checker.
