Question : registry issue
I added a DWORD from an instruction on the following link http://www.updatexp.com/dns-windows-xp.html I tried to follow the exact steps and was able to add the DWORD, BUT when I added the numbers that they wanted which is 14400 and I did select decimal but the numbers I see in the key are different from what the article says shouls be there. I see MaxCacheTtl 0x00014400(82944 and they have the oposite which is MaxCacheTtl 0x00003840(14400) Why am I not seeing what they have? You should see the link to see what I am talking about. Thanks. I really need to get this registry hacking a lot better.

I can't tell you how it happened, but 14400 (dec) = 3840 (hex) and 14400 (hex) = 82944 (dec). That tells me that you entered 14400 as a hex value rather than a decimal value. Delete the key and start over. Make sure you select decimal BEFORE you type in 14400.
