Question : Windows XP Manual TCP/IP config w/ multiple locations?
|
|
I have a Windows XP Professional Laptop that I have with me here at the office, and we have Biometric authentication, so I am required to just configure TCP/IP manually here at the office to have network access.
When I leave the office and go home I have to switch my TCP/IP settings for my home network, which sometimes is DHCP, and sometimes is a manual configuration as well.
How can I create multiple network setting connections and save them so I dont' have to re-type in all of my configuration settings each time? It would save me the trouble of remembering my manually configured IP address, DNS, gateway, subnet etc.
thanks for any help.

What i would say to do is use a tool like NetSetMan http://www.iljaherlein.de/netsetman/ and just switch between different location profiles as you move around. It can't be done natively in XP but there are third party tools (many, as the above, free) that will allow you to setup different locations.
