Question : SMS 2003 Installation- issue with SQL server database tables creation

Hi,
I have installed SQL 05 server and trying to install SMS 03 server. I understand that SMS needs to create tables in SQL server. I get this error when try installing SMS server

" Systems Managment Server setup cannot continue because of the following error

Setup cannot create the required database tables

Contact your SQL server administrator"

Kindly tell me how to fix it. I think there is something to do with the uers rights for creating SQL tables.

Thanks

Answer : SMS 2003 Installation- issue with SQL server database tables creation

I challenge anyone to do an install of SMS 2003 on a Server 2003 sp1 with SQL 2005! I'm not talking about an upgrade but a fresh clean, new install...it won't work. Unless there's a way to slipstream the SMS 2003 sp 2 files into the gold files, there's no way to do the install on SQL 2005. It appears that it has to be installed on SQL 2000, upgrade SMS to sp2, and then upgrade SQL to 2005.

What's frustrating, is that all technet docs state that SMS 2003 with sp2 can be installed on SQL 2005 and is a supported configuration...but it doesn't state what the installation order is. Specifically, that it must be installed on a downgrade version of SQL first and then upgraded.

Any comments?
