Question : ttl expired in transit after vpn reconnection
An XP SP2 computer establishes a VPN connection to our network.. Our Mirosoft 2000 server can ping the computer by hostname... If the computer disconnects then reconnects their VPN connection... ----- This causes the computer to get a new IP address...--- ----- The VPN is on a rotating DHCP address.. this cannot be changed.. ----- The server then gets a TTL Expired in transit error when you try to ping the computer by hostname... ----- It is still looking for the computer at the old IP address.. -----
Disabling DNS Client service on server does not help. Doing IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS does not help..
The server has to be rebooted before it will start pinging the computer at the new address...
