Question : SETUP VPN via SG300 and ADSL Actiontec Router with 1 static IP.
|
|
I have DSL provided with PPPoE, a static ip, the qwest router, SG300, a 4 port hub, and two PC's.
I need to setup a VPN.
Through other sources, it mentions that the static IP should be assigned to the Secure Computing SG300 (WAN port) and the PC's to the LAN port.
well...ADSL comes over phone line, i need the qwest actiontec modem to convert the signal to DSL from the phone line, this however automatically get's assigned my static IP from qwest
WITHOUT getting any other static IP from my ISP, is there away to setup VPN to my home network with this device?
So far i've tried: setting up the SG300 for DHCP (to get an IP from the Actiontec Modem via the "WAN" port), and the PC's in the LAN ports of the SG300. but i couldn't get this to work.
the SG300 got an IP, but i couldn't reach it, to go into the console, etc.
The manuals are very vague

Can you put the actiontec into bridge mode? If so this do what you need. If you dont know give us the model number and we will see if it supports it although i have yet to see a good router that dont support it.
Once you have that setup your SG300 will pickup the public IP address once you configure PPPOE on your wan interface.
