Without really knowing the problem, based on the info given, The easy route would be to delete the email profile from the computer then, recreate it.
With outlook closed goto control panel then mail, show profiles. Delete the old outlook profile, then make a new one, and re-setup the mail account.
This will delet the local profile, since email is stored in the information store, no mail should be lost.
