Question : BIND DNS replicated to Windows Server 2008 DNS
Hi,
We are setting up a child domain in a remote office and have the need to replicate our current DNS across to the child site for local DNS lookup. However, our current DNS in the root domain is BIND 9 sitting on a Linux box, and we need to replicate this to DNS running on a Windows 2008 DC server.
Can anyone suggest the best way to do this please? So far we have come up with installing BIND on the Windows 2008 DC and somehow replicate BIND => BIND.
There must be a way to replicate BIND into Windows DNS??
Any other solutions would be much appriciated.
Many thanks in advance
Answer : BIND DNS replicated to Windows Server 2008 DNS
You'd have to create a Secondary Zone on the 2008 system and have it use the BIND system as master.
You will also have to ensure that the BIND server will allow the 2008 server to transfer the zone.
