Question : Create SSL cert from CSR file in Microsoft CA

Hi,
One of our web servers SSL certifcates has expired and they have sent me a CSR file which was generated from the Apache server that runs on it.

I tried to submit a new request on my Microsoft CA server, but a) it does not ask for a *.csr file, and b) if I copy and paste the contents into a *.txt file, it give the folowing error -

"Certificate Services denied request 1083 because The request contains no certificate template information. 0x80094801 (-2146875391).  Additional information: Denied by Policy Module  0x80094801, The request does not contain a certificate template extension or the CertificateTemplate request attribute."

I am sure I am doing something daft, but help appriciated!
