Question : Running multiple remote desktop RDP sessions from the same workstation
I have one shared WinXP workstation at a retail store where 7 different staff are rotated through different shifts, with up to 3 staff working at one time. Each person opens their own separate RDP session from this workstation to the Win2003 Terminal Server, and logs in as themselves to reach their email etc. The RDP session's display size is set small at about 1/3 of the monitors setting, so multiple session windows can easily overlap on the monitor to keep them separate and distinct. When they click on the "TerminalServer" icon on the desktop, the last users login name is displayed so they have to change it to their own login name.
This is kind of working fine except:
1- It seems difficult for some to properly change the login name and not mess up the Domain\LoginName convention.
2- With more than 2 people working and more than 2 RDP sessions running, some have a hard time keeping track of who is who in the sessions and they close (not logout) everyone elses sessions to empty the screen and take over themselves!
Is there a way to create one separate RDP shortcut for each staff, where their own login name is remembered and the window title reflects either their login name or the name of the shortcut?
I hope this makes sense!
Thanks
Answer : Running multiple remote desktop RDP sessions from the same workstation
Yes .. you can save connections in the RDP client.
Set all the settings like you want them and then select "save as ...." Save the file to the desktop with a discriptive name and you should be good to go.
