Hi

when i try to access certain sites i get this error message , i am behind a firewall and proxy (squid)  running redhat  9.0  and using netscape.

The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://linux.cs.lewisu.edu/apache/ant/binaries/apache-ant-1.6.2-bin.tar.gz

The following error was encountered:

    Unable to determine IP address from host name for linux.cs.lewisu.edu

The dnsserver returned:

    Server Failure: The name server was unable to process this query.

This means that:

 The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
 Check if the address is correct.

Answer : Unable to determine IP address from host name for linux.cs.lewisu.edu

So your DNS server doesn't have an entry for:

linux.cs.lewisu.edu 64.81.231.195

In a proxy environment, it's still up to the client to resolve DNS, so whichever machine running Netscape must have access to UDP/53 on a DNS server somewhere in order to resolve things.
