Question : Network Bridge between 10/100 Nic & Wireless Nic causes duplicate IP's
|

At our school we have just installed new Compaq/HP nc8000 notebooks, XP Pro, Broadcom Wireless G and 10/100 Nic built in. I have setup a bridge between Wireless and 10/100 Nic, We login to W2k Domain that uses DHCP. Problem, When connected via Cat5 and Wireless is turned on the we get two signals happening, the 10/100 and the Wireless are sending out the same IP Packets (via bridge) and causing lots of duplicate ip messages over network and clogging our network switch (Dlink DES6000) bandwidth. Turning wireless off or unplugging cat5 cable fixes problem immediately. Is not Sasser virus, Have latest drivers, service packs etc. Users when moving from Wireless to Cat5 forget to turn off wireless and that's when problem occurs. Any ideas on a permanent fix appreciated.
Regards

Pardon my lousy grammar - it's a typing issue really!
Here is a better sentence!
If disabling the onboard NIC and using strictly wireless on the laptops is out of the question, then increase the Metric on the wired NIC so that it only routes via wireless while connected to both.
Sorry for that.
