Question : NTFS directory locked out -- can't take ownership

W2K server with SP2, on an NTFS drive we have a subdirectory of a user's home drive (who only had Change permissions) where he cannot see it, Domain and server administrators cannot see, and can't take ownership either.  When you right click on the directory as an admin no Security tab appears.  I'm quite used to getting back into directories which Admin doesn't have any rights to by taking ownership at a higher level etc. bu taking ownership / changing rights to all sub-folders etc. from above simply gives Access Denied too.

Any ideas, am I missing something silly on this wet Monday morning!

thanks

Steve

Answer : NTFS directory locked out -- can't take ownership

We had this problem in the early Windows NT days but after applying SP2 it was solved - probably it will also help when applying the latest SP to your System?

Another idea: Mac users are allowed to use characters in file names which aren't allowed to windows users. Probably your user saved files with special chars and somehow is causing your problems?
