Question : What Network types, interconnection devices,Access methods, and Transmission Media should I Use?

There is two buildings, an old one and a new one. There is a network in the old building that has 25 users connected as a star (Ethernet).Surfing the Internet is available to all users using Micrsoft Internet Explorer 5.0. and the building is connected using a leased line. The new building has been built that has 8 users in the mean time. The 2 buildings are 150meters apart.
Q1: What are the possible network standards that could be used to implement the expansion of network and the Asscess Method?
Q2:What Toplogy do you recommand?
Q3:What are the inetrconnection Devices can be used to link the two buildings?
Q4:What about the Transmission Media you recommandme to use?
Q5:What about the best WAN link to connect the two building?

Thank you. :)

Answer : What Network types, interconnection devices,Access methods, and Transmission Media should I Use?

First thing- Update to IE6 IE5 has many, many security holes.

Depending on the environment, and what sort of bandwidth you require:

You could use 2 routers, 1 on each network, with cat5 cable or fibre between, or 2 switches with fibre modules to provide a fibre backbone connection between the 2 networks.
The new building would then be able to share the leased line for building 1.

Or you could install a new leased line for building 2 and use VPN to connect them via the internet.

There are several other scenarios, including wireless, microwave, SDHSS modems, etc. but this smells like an old MSCE question paper to me :-).

I would RTFM.
