Question : ProFTPD uploading

I am running proftpd as a standalone application running with root privilages, I use the "basic" configuartion from proftpd.org, logging in works and everything seems like it works fine but when I upload something it will start the passive tansfer and just hang.

At first glance this sounds like a firewall problem, but generally isn't if you're really using passive mode. Have you tried doing the transfer by using a client running on the server machine? A detailed log, with verbose debugging enabled on the client end, would help immensely.
