Question : Forcing SMS patch delivery to a workstation

When I create an SMS delivery package and then advertise it on the network, is there a tool which can be run on the client side to force an immediate delivery and deployment of the advertised patch?

You can do this in the advertisement...

On the schedule tab of the advertisement:

Advertisement Start Time --> When the clients release there is an adv

Mandatory Assignments --> This is the time when the program will start to run on the client.

Now,  there is a check mark for "allow users to run the program independently of assignments"  <-- check this off...

Then go to a targeted client machine...  go to control panel --> Run Advertised programs  (In this applet, you will see any programs that you have checked off in the last step)...  you can run the program from the client machine at any time...

(Note if you try this through remote console, you will find that the run advertised programs applet becomes GREYED OUT.  To fix this, connect via remote desktop using the console switch:  i.e.:  mstsc.exe /v servername /console   )
