Question : Network installation of two Win XP Pro computers
|
|
Hi all.
I know my problem could be very simple but I've tried several ways and I've not been able to get a solution.
Here are the facts:
I have a lap and a pc connected via a small switch since I want to share files and internet between them. I configured ip's manually in both computers. Lap is the computer which provides the internet access through a dial-up connection.
This is the configuration for the lap: IP: 192.168.1.1 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 DNS: 192.168.1.1
This is the configuration for the desktop pc: IP: 192.168.1.2 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 DNS: 192.168.1.1
Both computers have NetBios over TCP/IP enabled, also they have the same workgroup name, but I still cannot establish any communication between them.
When I access the Network Neighborhood in the lap I can see the desktop PC but when I try to explore it a warning window comes out telling me that I have no permission to access that resource and that the network path was not found.
On the other hand, when I'm in the Network Neighborhood of the desktop PC I cannot see the lap, the only computer that shows up is the desktop pc itself.
I don't know what's what I'm doing wrong, maybe it's clear but I can't see it.
I would thank any help you can provide me on this. Thanks for your time.
