Question : Adding 3rd NIC to novel 3.12 - Slot= parameter?

There were already two NICs when I installed 3rd. I did LOAD and BIND commands and 3rd card was dettected propertly. However, after rebooting it started asking me for Slot parameter for both 2nd and 3rd NIC. And suggested options were Slot=1 and Slot=2. After I checked in autoexec.ncf, I see that at the end of LOAD command for 2nd and 3rd NIC, Slot=1 and Slot=2 were added. I then saw that network name for both NICs was the same. Now if I assign them different network names, and remove slot=, it still asks for Slot value after rebooting. Everything is working ok, but I am worried if I did something wrong.

Any advice is appreciated.

Answer : Adding 3rd NIC to novel 3.12 - Slot= parameter?

Are the NIC's the same make/model?  I would specify the SLOT= parameter in the AUTOEXEC.NCF to make is a sure thing.  On some old PCI motherboards, I noticed slot number re-ordering as new hardware was added (i.e. what NetWare called "slot2" became "slot3" when another NIC or SCSI card was added.
