Question : Windows Network folder sharing

On a Windows 2003 Server domain with XP Pro clients, to accomodate a scanner, I want to share a folder on one of the clients that is located on a network drive of the client. The option to share a folder located on a network drive is not available. For security reasons I do not want to share the folder directly from the server (the scanner requires the share to be visible and available to Everyone, and there are limits on the access to the data in the folder)

Is there a way around this limitation, or must I find another solution?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Answer : Windows Network folder sharing

I assume the issue is the scanner has no user account assigned to it so as soon as you apply share or NTFS restrictions the scanner can no longer write to the share. Does the folder actually have to be shared? If not, it is a little convoluted, but you could save it to a local folder on the PC (not shared) and use syncing software such as www.secondcopy.com to sync it with a server share that has file restrictions. For added security disable file sharing on the PC and no one will be able to access even as a hidden folder.
