Question : Why is my network so darn slow with transferring files...???

I've got a desktop with Vista Ultimate 64 bit on it and a laptop with Vista Business 32 bit on it.  Each has 100Mbit Ethernet cards plugged into a Linksys WRT-300N router.

I just downloaded an 8GB ISO to my desktop and I'm trying to move it over to my laptop.  I downloaded the thing in less than an hour at around 800KB/sec.  Was very pleased with that.

Now I'm trying to transfer this thing to my laptop and it's not even moving half as fast.  Right now the rate shows 400KB/sec and says it's gonna take 2+ hours to complete.  How can that be?

100Mbit should be 12.5MB/sec.  I know I wouldn't get that fully but I'm not getting anywhere NEAR that.  Right now I'm getting around .04MB/sec.  What gives???

Any information on what's wrong here would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Don't forget to read the comments. Here's one you may miss:

found a solution. Its slow when i request the files FROM the Vista machine. But if i send them using the XP machine to a share on the Vista then it transfers like normal. Go figure. Thanks though!
